Nepa School of Social Sciences and Humanities is a newly established institution dedicated to high-quality teaching and research in the social sciences and eventually the humanities. Nep? School was spun off from the Social Science Baha as a not-for-profit entity, with its own governing board consisting of Dipak Gyawali (chair) and Basanta Thapa, Deepak Thapa, Hari Sharma, and Rajendra Pradhan (members). Rajendra Pradhan is also the Dean of Nep? School. The college plans to run Master’s programmes in the social sciences after about two years and eventually begin MPhil and PhD as well as undergraduate programmes after six or seven years. The Director will be responsible for the overall management and the day-to-day functioning of Nep? School. Dalit NGO Federation (DNF) founded in 1998, is an umbrella organization of Dalit NGOs of Nepal and is dedicated for the establishment of Dalit Rights since its inception. Currently, DNF with the support of DFID/ESP is implementing a three year project “Improved Access to Socio-economic Opportunities for Dalits” starting from 1August 2009.The project is being implemented in 10 districts (Mahattori,Rautahat,Siraha Saptari,Kailali Banke, Surkhet Baitadi ,Baglung and Syanga) from five development regions of Nepal. The key areas of interventions are: the institutional capacities strengthening of DNF regional, district chapters and local Dalit NGOs, increased utilization of existing and new education, health and livelihood opportunities and strategic policy influencing in favor of Dalit agenda.
